Joining the Riverside Election Integrity Team is about more than just monitoring a ballot box; it is about protecting the very foundation of our local community—the trust we place in our democratic process. By stepping up, you transition from a passive observer to an active guardian of the vote, ensuring that every legal ballot is handled with the highest standards of security and transparency. Whether it is verifying chain-of-custody procedures, observing the logic and accuracy testing of voting machines, or simply helping neighbors understand the complexities of California election law, your involvement provides the "eyes and ears" necessary to maintain public confidence. In a time of uncertainty, your contribution helps guarantee that Riverside County remains a place where every citizen can trust that their voice is heard and their vote is counted exactly as cast.
As a volunteer with the Riverside Election Integrity Team (REIT), I understand that my conduct reflects upon the integrity of the entire organization and the public’s trust in the electoral process. To maintain the highest standards of transparency and neutrality, I agree to the following:
I will perform my duties in a non-partisan manner. While on duty or representing REIT, I will refrain from wearing campaign buttons, slogans, or colors associated with specific candidates or parties, and I will not engage in electioneering or political advocacy.
I agree to follow all California Elections Code regulations and local Riverside County Registrar of Voters guidelines. I understand that my role is to observe and document, not to interfere with the voting process, intimidate voters, or obstruct election officials in the performance of their duties.
I commit to reporting facts, not rumors. I will use the provided reporting tools to document specific observations (times, locations, and actions) objectively. I will refrain from spreading unverified information on social media or in public forums that could undermine public confidence without evidence.
I will remain calm, polite, and professional at all times, especially when interacting with poll workers, county staff, or the public. If I witness an irregularity, I will follow the established chain of command within REIT to report it rather than engaging in a confrontation on-site.
I will respect the privacy of all voters. I will not photograph or record private voter information (such as signatures or marked ballots) and will handle all sensitive data provided by REIT with the utmost discretion.
Acknowledgment: By volunteering with the Riverside Election Integrity Team, I acknowledge that I have read and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. I understand that failure to adhere to these standards may result in my immediate removal from the team.
